Title: Tips for A Healthy Immune System
Author: Angela Reynolds
Article:
Your body's immune system is responsible for keeping you well.
If your immune system is not functioning at its best you will
become sick and your body will be unable to fight off diseases.
There are some very basic things we can do to help to insure our
body will have a healthy immune system.
The absolute best thing we can do to insure we have a healthy
immune system is to eat a healthy diet. A low-fat diet which
contains fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, beans, fish,
and healthy oils is the best defense for building a healthy
immune system.
The antioxidants, vitamins A, B6, C and E, are also very
important to a healthy immune system. Antioxidants are effective
in helping to prevent heart disease and many forms of cancer.
Vitamin A can be found in foods such as carrots, spinach,
cantaloupe, and dairy products. Vitamin B6 can be found in foods
such as bananas, lentils, fish, wholegrain flour, and sunflower
seeds. Vitamin C can be found in foods such as kiwi fruit,
citrus fruits, green peppers, and broccoli. Vitamin E can be
found in foods such as avocados, whole grains, and vegetable
oils.
The minerals of iron, selenium and zinc are also very important
for a healthy immune system. Good sources of iron are red meats,
dried beans, leafy greens, and tofu. Good sources of selenium
are fish, grains and nuts. And, good sources of zinc are
seafood, eggs, pumpkin seeds, and cooked oysters.
Drinking teas made from cinnamon and ginger can help you to have
a healthy immune system and fight illness.
Eating an unhealthy diet and living an unhealthy lifestyle are
two of the worst things you can do for your immune system.
Avoiding sugar, caffeine, fatty foods, fried foods, processed
meats, processed foods, excessive alcohol consumption, smoking,
excessive sun exposure, and exposure to harmful chemicals can
help you to have a healthy immune system.
Other simple things you can do to insure a healthy immune system
are to get adequate restorative sleep, exercise regularly, wash
your hands frequently, and lower your stress levels. Stress is
one of the worst things for your immune system. Stress causes
the healthy immune system to break down. With that breakdown of
our healthy immune system come illness and less disease
protection. Keeping your stress level moderately low can help to
insure you have a healthy immune system to protect you when you
need it.
