per year. But for people who live in northern region, they
usually eat rice about 12 kilograms per person per year, mean
while people who live in southern region eat only about 2
kilograms per person per year.

However, the tradition of growing rice of Italians even more
interesting. Most of countries around the world grow rice for
the only reason that for domestic consumption. But the reason
for growing Risotto is totally different, because they grow rice
in order to improve quality of muddy soil and to get rid of
mosquitoes and its breeding area, which are shallow lakes after
spring. The water that is the cause of mosquitoes breeding site
are from the ice melting from Alp mountain. The species of rice
that grow in this region are generally taken from Arabian people
who live in north Africa.

At first, the northern Italian people grow rice only for family
consumption and the way that they cook the rice also not use
complicated methods and they can store cooked rice for later
use, especially in fall and winter. They just only warm the
preserved rice when they want to eat and the rice give more
nutrition than soup. This is the reason why rice has become
popular among Italians. However, sometime later, more
ingredients have been add to have more variety of cooking styles.

The cooking method of risotto has been developed for more than
300 years. Since the risotto is introduced to the people who are
in rich family and it was very popular among them. Later the
"Risotto Culture" was introduced to middle class, even low
class, then it became popular among Italian very quickly. Start
form northern region, then to the central and southern region.
Risotto is known as the food that popular for Italians, apart

Today, many of Italian chefs always find variety of cooking
Rissoto. Some chefs also try to find new technique to make their
cooking style unique in order to attract customers. They try to
find new ingredients to add in to their Rissoto recipes, which
some of them are rare and expensive such as Porchinee, goose's
liver, herbs, seafood and vegetables. Rissoto also has influence
to people to change their social value that change. People will
order Rossoto instead of pasta, because they will be looked like

The Taj Fisherman's Cove gave us a terrific first impression, of
cool, calm professionalism when we arrived.

Looking around we were initially impressed by the huge pool with
swim up bar, the lush gardens, and our beachfront cabin.

The food was excellent, especially at the beach side restaurant,
where the seafood was out of this world.

We were spoiled for choice with the breakfasts, there was food
for all nationalities, from The English to Indian, and Japanese,
you'd never get bored!!

We had a beach cabin with an outside shower, fantastic views out
to sea, and a great sitting area to enjoy the views.

The beach was perfectly clean, and the sea didn't seem anything
like as polluted as we had been told to expect. In fact the
water was fine.

The longer we stayed, the more we felt that there was a slight
degree of arrogance from the staff who were never impolite in
any way, but they almost seemed smug. Having said that the
service was excellent, although at times a little slow in the
restaurants.

This is very much a 'children are welcomed hotel' at the
weekends, so be prepared if you don't have any yourself for the
descent of the masses, and I do means lot and lots. You could
almost say overrun.

It also would be fair to point out that although everything was
very clean, it was also quite dated. The bathrooms were almost
antique, and on closer inspection the hotel definitely needs
more than maintenance, it also needs updating, so that it comes
up to the high levels of other Taj hotels we have stayed in. I
suppose it is India, and it's nice to feel just a little of the
fading colonial grandeur!!

The hardest thing of all was to get a booking confirmed at The
Taj Fisherman's Cove, but keep persevering because it is worth
it at the end.

By making the right food choices, you may reduce your risk of
developing cardiovascular disease and cancer. These diseases
take the lives of more Americans than all other illnesses and
causes of death combined. Each day, three out of every four
deaths in the United States will occur as a result of
cardiovascular disease or heart disease (like heart attacks and
strokes) and cancer. Although no diet can ensure you won't have
a heart attack, stroke or cancer, what you eat can affect your
health. How does a person eat for life? It's easier and more
enjoyable than you might think. There are seven basic
guidelines: * Eat a variety of foods. * Maintain desirable
weight. * Avoid too much fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol. *
Eat foods with adequate starch and fiber. * Avoid too much
sugar. * Avoid too much sodium. * If you drink alcoholic
beverages, do so in moderation. This article focuses on five
guidelines that are related to the prevention of heart disease
and/or cancer: eat a variety of foods; maintain desirable
weight; avoid too much fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol; eat
foods with adequate starch and fiber; and avoid too much sodium.
Keep in mind that staying healthy requires more than just good
nutrition. Regular exercise, getting enough rest, learning to
cope with stress, and having regular physical checkups are
important ways to help ensure good health. How Do the Foods We
Eat Affect Our Chances of Getting Cancer and Heart Disease?
There is much still to be learned about the relationship between
the foods we eat and our risk of getting cancer and heart
disease. To reduce your blood cholesterol level, it is important
to eat less saturated fat and cholesterol. Saturated fat and
cholesterol are often found together in foods. Saturated fat in
the U.S. diet is provided primarily by animal products such as
the fat in meat, butter, whole milk, cream, cheese, and ice
cream. There are a few vegetable fats--coconut oil, cocoa
butter, palm kernel and palm oils which are also high in
saturated fat. Cholesterol is found only in animal products
eggs, meat, poultry, fish and dairy products. Plant foods such
as vegetables, grains, cereals, nuts, and seeds do not contain
cholesterol. A few foods are high in cholesterol but relatively
low in fat--for example, egg yolks and liver. Watch out for
items in the grocery store that are labeled "no cholesterol" or,
"contains no animal fat." They may still contain a large amount
of fat or saturated fat. Examples are peanut butter, solid
vegetable shortening, nondairy creamer, and baked products like
cookies, cakes, and crackers. For people trying to lose blood
cholesterol level, these foods should be chosen less often.
Substituting unsaturated fatty acids (which are usually liquid
and usually come from plant sources) for saturated fats can help
reduce high blood cholesterol. Safflower, corn, soybean, olive,
and canola oils are major sources of unsaturated fats. The
omega-3 fatty acids which are found in fish and seafood may have
a favorable effect on blood fat and reduce the risk of heart
disease. The National Cancer Institute estimates that about 80
percent of all cancers may be related to smoking, diet, and the
environment. Studies at the National Cancer Institute suggest
that eating foods high in fiber may reduce risks of cancers of
the colon and rectum. Good sources of fiber are whole grain
breads and bran cereals, vegetables, cooked dry peas and beans,
and fruits. Some studies have suggested that fat may act as a
cancer promoter (an agent that speeds up the development of
cancer). There is some evidence that diets rich in vitamin A,
vitamin C, and beta-carotene (the plant form of vitamin A) may
help reduce the risk of certain cancers. Scientists recommend
that you eat a variety of foods rich in vitamins rather than
relying on vitamin supplements. Good sources of vitamin A
include yellow-orange vegetables such as carrots, winter squash,
sweet potatoes and pumpkin; and yellow-orange fruits such as
peaches, cantaloupes and mangoes. Sources of vitamin C include
dark-green leafy vegetables such as kale, spinach, and
watercress; broccoli and asparagus; and tomatoes. Some fruit
sources of vitamin C are oranges, lemons, grapefruit, peaches,
berries, and cantaloupe. Eating for life doesn't mean giving up
your favorite foods. It means taking steps to choose more often
foods that are low in fat and high in fiber. For example, if you
enjoy eating steak, choose a low-fat cut such as round steak,
trim off the excess fat, broil it, and drain off the drippings.
Pizza? To try a low-fat version that is rich in fiber, use a
whole-grain English muffin or pita bread topped with part-skim
mozzarella, fresh vegetables, and tomato sauce. And cookies or
other desserts? In many recipes you can reduce the fat, and
substitute vegetable oils or margarine for butter. To increase
fiber, use whole wheat flour in place of white flour. To assure
an adequate diet, choose a variety of foods daily including
selections of vegetables; fruits; whole-grain breads and
cereals; low-fat dairy products; poultry, fish, and lean meat,
dry beans and peas. The National Heart, Lung, and Blood
Institute and the National Cancer Institute are committed to
promoting good health and reducing the loss of life from heart
disease and cancer. You can help. By using the ideas in this
article, trying recipes that have been modified to decrease fat
and sodium and increase fiber, and planning menus that are high
in fiber and low in fat, especially saturated fat, you may
reduce the risk of these diseases for yourself and for those you

(18-22 carbon atoms in chain length) with the first of many

The most romantic hotel in Sri Lanka is undoubtedly Taprobane
Island, and you must take the opportunity to stay there for a
few days during your vacation in Sri Lanka.

Taprobane is an amazing place, and incredibly romantic, not the
least of its charms is that you can only get to it by wading
through the sea.

The 2.5 acre island has 5 en-suite bedrooms with good size
living areas, balconies, verandah, lovely tropical gardens, and
of course an infinity pool. There is a staff of five who only
exist to pander to your every whim.

It is of course hardly an hotel, more a fully staffed villa, and
in my book absolutely perfect for a honeymoon stopover, whilst
enjoying Sri Lanka. Taprobane is really a throw back to a long
lost colonial era, and you could easily be in the 1930's with
the huge walk around verandahs, the colonial style furnishings.

What I liked best was the fact that you could ask the staff for
almost anything in the way of food, particularly seafood, and
they would wade ashore and get it for you - nothing it seemed
was too much trouble. You can feel less than secure in the
tropics, even although the Sri Lankans still hold the English in
very high esteem, but the presence of a security guard should
allay any fears.

There really is nothing to do, but of course this is perfect as
a top honeymoon destination. You can simply swim, read, paint,
eat, swim, read, paint, eat, drink...............

The main drawback is the journey from Colombo airport, of over
100km. This doesn't seem much, but the roads are crowded, and it
could take as much as five hours, which is a long time after a
fourteen hour flight. My advice would be to overnight nearer
Colombo, or visit Taprobane in the middle of your honeymoon in
Sri Lanka.

Title: Lasagna the Quick, Easy and Delicious Way

Do you know that the local restaurant you frequent probably
doesn't make everything from scratch? I learned this when I
worked in a New York City a while back. Much to my dismay, I
watched one day as the kitchen staff unpacked boxes of
already-made sauces, packages of conveniently chopped
vegetables, and even prepared cookie dough and pie-shells. There
is a well-known chain of sandwich shops that boasts heroes with
"freshly baked bread". But you might be expecting to find
frenetic yeast rising and dough rolling in the back. Chances are
you would see globs of dough pre-formed into hero-bread shape,
waiting to be put in the oven. And what's the difference? The
cookie or bread would taste freshly baked, and the cooks
wouldn't waste time with rolling pins or discarding dough that
didn't rise. It makes for a much more efficient kitchen, right?

Well, why not use the same principle in your own kitchen? You
can make a delicious lasagna without rolling out the pasta
dough, or even toiling over a stove to make your own sauce, like
Grandma did. Of course, if you want to do everything from
scratch, more power to you, because you probably have no kids,
don't have to work for a living, and have someone to clean the
mansion and do the laundry. But for the rest of us, leave the
saucing to Francesco Rinaldi, and the pasta artistry to Ronzoni.
Your guests will think you knocked yourself out for them, and
you can still put your own culinary signature on your lasagna.
To this day, friends still call me on me to tell them how to
make "my" lasagna, and my name doesn't even end in a vowel!

First, buy a package of lasagna pasta. To make it special, you
can get green spinach pasta. If you want to make it really
outstanding and you live in a big city, or an area with a big
Italian population, you can go to the local Italian deli and get
fresh lasagna noodles, instead of picking your box off the
grocery shelf. Check with the store about cooking time and make
sure you tell them you are making a lasagna, so the pasta will
be put in the oven after cooking. Sometimes you get
already-cooked pasta that you can put right into the oven
without par-boiling. If you use pasta from the box, do not boil
it for the 15 minutes they tell you on the box. You want your
pasta to be "al dente" which is a little hard, because when you
put it in the oven to bake your lasagna, the pasta will cook
more, and you don't want it to overcook it and let it get mushy.

The next thing you are going to put together is your filling.
Now, here is where you are going to put your own signature on
your lasagna. Mine was little mini-meatballs, but you can also
brown the chopped meat and put it in too. Start with some tomato
sauce. Here too, take liberty and pick out a jar of your
favorite spaghetti sauce. You can use meat sauce and you don't
have to brown any meat. You can use sauce with sausage, or to
make it really special, buy already-made Italian sausage. Make
sure you cook it first. Want to add your own special vegetable?
You can put in cooked eggplant, zucchini. Onions, peppers or
whatever you want. Add fresh herbs if you desire. If you want to
make a vegetarian lasagna, leave out the meat. Want to go easy
on the calories and cholesterol? Use chicken or instead of
chopped beef, use chopped veal or even chopped turkey. For a
very different lasagna, put in seafood -- calamari, mussels, or
even shrimp.

Now you are ready to assemble your lasagna and put it in the
oven to bake. You will need a large container of ricotta cheese
and a package of mozzarella cheese too. Take a rectangular
baking dish- either glass or metal, or even disposable. Spray
the bottom with non-stick cooking spray or a thin layer of olive
oil. Then line the bottom of the pan with sauce. Then cover the
bottom with a layer of your pre-cooked "al dente" lasagna
noodles. Next, slather on your ricotta cheese in a thick layer.
Then, put on your filling and sauce. Then, put another layer of
lasagna noodles, again slather on ricotta, and again your
filling. Top off with a layer of lasagna noodles, liberally pour
sauce on top, and then slices of mozzarella to cover the top.
Put the pan in a 350-degree oven for 30 minutes, or until the
mozzarella on top is completely melted and the sauce is bubbling.

Make sure to serve some Italian bread and compliment with a good
bottle of wine, and your guests will never know that you didn't
slave all day. You can even make the components of the filling
the day before. That way, all you have to do on the night of
your dinner party is parboil the lasagna noodles, assemble the
lasagna, and pop it in the oven. Everything is already cooked;
you only have to put it all in the oven to melt the mozzarella
and heat everything up. The lasagna is your creation. You have
chosen what goes into it and what flavors and spices your
guests' taste buds will enjoy. And the best part? If there are
leftovers, you can reheat it and enjoy it again. I will never
figure out why, but Italian food always tastes even better the
second time around. Isn't there a song like that? Or is it love
that is better the second time around? Love? Lasagna? They
certainly go together.

one may be confused which exactly to follow. So before choosing
which weight loss plan to follow, try reading these summaries
about the most popular diet programs out today.

Atkins' New Diet Revolution by Dr. Atkins. This weight loss
program encourages high protein diet and a trim down on the
carbs. One can feast on vegetables and meat but should fast on
bread and pasta. One is also not restricted against fat intake
so it is okay to pour in the salad dressing and freely spread on
the butter. However, after the diet, one may find himself
lacking on fiber and calcium yet high in fat. Intake of grains
and fruits are also limited.

Carbohydrate Addict's Diet by Drs. Heller. This diet plan
advocates low carbohyrate eating. Approves on eating meats,
vegetables and fruits, dairy and grain products. however, warns
against taking in too much carb. "Reward" meal can be too high
on fats and saturated fats.

Choose to Lose by Dr. Goor. Restrains fat intake. One is given a
"fat" budget and he is given the liberty on how to spend it. It
does not pressure the individual to watch his carbohydrate
intake. Eating meat and poultry as well as low-fat dairy and
seafoods is okay. A go signal is also given on eating
vegetables, fruits, cereals, bread and pasta.

This weight loss plan is fairly healthy, good amounts of fruits
and vegetables as well as saturated fats. Watch triglyceride
levels though; if high, trim down the carbohydrates and tuck in
more of the unsaturated fats.

needs.

The Pritkin Principle. Focused on trimming the calorie density
in eating by suggesting watery foods that make one feel full.
Eating vegetables, fruits, oatmeal, pasta, soups, salads and
low-fat dairy is okay. Although limits protein sources to lean
meat, seafood and poultry. Although it is healthy by providing
low amounts of saturated fats and rich amounts of vegetables and
fruits, it is also low on calcium and limits lean protein
sources.

Volumetrics. For low-density calorie eating. Recommends the same
foodstuff as Pritkin but restricts fatty or dry foods like
popcorn, pretzels and crackers. This plan is reasonably healthy
given the high amounts of fruits and vegetables as well as being
low in calorie density and saturated fats.

The Zone. Moderately low on the carbs yet moderately high on the
proteins. Encourages low-fat protein foods like fish and chicken
plus veggies, fruits and grains. It is also healthy but lacking
in grains and calcium.

Weight Watchers. High carbohydrates, moderate on fats and
proteins. A very healthy diet plan and very flexible too. it
allows the dieter to plan his own meal rather than give him a
set to follow.

texture and flavors which seem to adapt to any kind of dish.
And, as a bit of icing on the cake, I've learned how mushrooms
are truly wonderful for your health. Consider this my ode to the
mushroom.

Health Benefits

When it comes to health, edible mushrooms are a right up there
with other super-foods green tea and broccoli. After all, the
first antibiotics were extracted from fungi. Being 80-90% water,
mushrooms are low in calories, while still being high in fiber.
They are fat-free, cholesterol-free, and low in sodium
(especially good for those on a hypertensive diet). Here are
some other reasons to sneak more mushrooms into your cooking: ·
Mushrooms are considered probiotic, meaning that they help the
body to strengthen itself and ward off illness. Part of
mushrooms' probiotic ability comes from their high percentage of
the nutrient riboflavin. · Mushrooms are a great source of
